Car Park Management - Happy Blue!
I manage a car park behind my offices. There are 31 spaces and I rent out 27, retaining four for my business.

There is no electric supply to the car park but I want to control access as many people use it without authorisation. Clampers are useless - I've tried two firms. The problem is that the main culprits are connected with firms who rent spaces from me. They either park in other people's spaces, or park across their own spaces, making access awkward. This also offends other car park users who pay for say three spaces and use only three, whereas a person paying for two, may park four cars for a short time. Finally there is one user, who has the spaces for members of the public who are clients (he is a physio) so needs easy access.

Any ideas for improving the matter without spending fortunes on electronic controlled gates?

A couple of times I did rather well with clampers. What sort of difficulties did you have ?

Other than that, I can only think of those hinged posts which need a key to allow them to fall flat and the car to drive intot he space.

Hi - Can appreciate your problem Espada. There is a permit system with clampers where my office is and it is a nightmare.

I keep spaces for visitors and they have to come to my office to get the relevent permit, then put the permit in their car. I have to remember to get the permit back before they drive off.

Anyone not displaying the relevent permit gets clamped, with no come back.

Hinged posts would be a good idea for some but your physio would find them a pain.

Good luck with this problem and if you solve it let us know - I'll pass it on to my landlords!

Funny this should come up - got clamped myself this week, and in one of my spaces.

Regards DougB.
