Does anyone know a supplier/fitter of aftermarket cruise control in London or the South East? I've found Conrad Anderson in Birmingham but Google is not throwing up any other suppliers closer to home. Thanks in advance for any help. Andy

What car is it for? Depending on the car, sometimes you can DIY simply by adding the relevant switches if the car already has CC but not enabled.

Any serious auto electrics/electronics place ought to be able to help you.
My preference would be the VDO Tempostat:

Contact Siemens VDO and they'll have a list of fitters.
If its location is convenient for you, I can recommend

And I've just remembered the company that dealt with the system fitted to my Audi 100 15 years ago:
Lunalectric Ltd
11 Elder Way
Langley
Slough
Berks
SL3 6EP
01753 544118
01753 540416

This post is not meant in any way as a critism but I am curious as to why anyone would pay for retrofitting cruise control. My present car came with it as standard and I find it to be one of the gadgets I could easily live without due to the traffic conditions in the UK. Most of my driving is on motorways in central and Northern Britain and opportunities to use cruise for more than a minute or two are rare. My annual mileage last year was 49,770 and is going to be similar this year so I would use it if I could. I would'nt mind one of those 'anti-crash' forward looking radars though :-)).

I didn't mention this before as it wasn't relevent but the car is French and will be used over there mostly - with long trips between the UK and the Med. Judging by French tailgating bahaviour, does anyone know where I can buy a large spike to attach to the boot lid to act as a visual deterrent. Totally agree it would be a waste for UK use.

If the car is fly by wire throttle, it usually is a case of fitting a new control stalk or control paddle, usually under £20.

I use cruise control all the time. With the VDO system it's so easy to flick on and off. It helps me stick to speed limits, improves fuel consumption, and takes a little of the stress out of driving. I had it retro-fitted to the first MB I bought (which wasn't fly-by-wire and which proved troublesome until the speedo cable was replaced).
