Nissan Primera !N! reg Dodgy heater - bostock
Hi guys ,
I have had this primera for about twelve months now, with very little probs at all but I have recently noticed that my Blower only works on setting 4, it heats up lovely but it can be a little too much on 4 with none of the first three settings working I have checked all the fuses and they are all fine. Any Ideas ???

Do you mean the fan works only on 4?

Yes that is correct.

This type problem has cropped up here a few times before. Its usually down to a failed resistor pack, IIRC.

Run a forum search for author: dynamic dave, subject: heater and message: resistor - that'll point you in the right direction for how to fix it.

Yes it will be the heater blower resistor which is situated behind the glove box. Easy DIY job, remember to disconnect the battery. New resistor costs about £25 from nissan.

Behind the glove box you say...
Will this be done from inside the car then ?

will try that now.

Open glove box. (Remove lid if you want - a pull-out hinge pin at each bottom corner). Undo screws (one in each corner, plus two on latch plate at top). Pull glovebox out (removing light by 90-deg anti-clock twist).

You will then see heater motor assy with resistor pack. You could change the pollen filter (if fitted) at the same time (undo 1 screw and remove vertical cover stip from duct).

I have done it a couple of times and could now do it in about 10mins. All you need is a cross-head screwdriver. The worst bit is replacing the glovebox lid hingepins - they are a plastic pin with a 'tab' coming off to get hold of. They are easy to pull out, but fiddly to get back.
