Has anyone any idea as to the cost of parts and labour whats invloved etc........for a new clutch kit . Its a diesel also .

Don't know exactly, but it will be a lot knowing Renault. I would guess 5 hours labour plus £150-200 for a clutch kit. It will likely have a dual mass flywheel which will need checking and possibly replacing (these have been troublesome on Renaults). A new DMF from Renault is about £450 + fitting.

Does the clutch pedal return to the fully up position? Clutch master cylinders are not very long lasting on Espaces and Lagunas, you may be in luck with a cheaper repair.

Oh dear,I thing you are in for one hell of a shock ,check with renault first if I am not mistaken you require some specialist knowledge.A laguna is in the £800 to £1000 pound mark and I have that the Espace is much more complicated.Good luck.

If it is just the clutch master cylinder it is a two day job the dashboard must come out and you need a special bracing tool to stop the front from collapsing inwards,the part costs about £70

You can buy the clutch and pressure plate quite cheap but believe me its not a DIY job .I local mechanic said if someone brought one again he would refuse to do it even if he was starving.The renault agents know how to do them have all the tools ,try a few clutch specialists first you really need to shop around it can so easily go wrong.If it is the clutch replace the master cylinder at the same time if you intend to keep it.Also try the renault forum for more info.

Approx £1400 at Renault for a new clutch fitting according to my local Renault agents.

Accessibility I imagine, big engine shoe horned into quite a tight and awkward engine bay.

Let's say 7 hours labour inc. the flywheel change. At £80/hour that's £560. Add £200 for clutch parts - £760
Add Dual Mass Flywheel, if needed, at £450, that's £1200.
Don't you just love Renaults! Good thing those diesels are economical on the fuel.....

It is £1400 without the flywheel job time by Renault is 8 to 10 hours because they have all the equipment needed and the know how,it took a extremely good non Renault mechanic in his well equiped garage two long days.But as I have said before shop around but make sure a non Renault mechanic knows what he is taking on.

OK, I just checked book time. It is 6.7 hours w/o flywheel. 7.00 hours with flywheel - this is for the Diesel engine. You shouldn't really have to pay any more labour than this. If you are being quoted £1400 w/o flywheel then I would seek another quote.....
