I have an all too vivid memory of being in the back of a car doing the Alston - Penrith run whilst nursing a weapons grade hangover. Not recommended.

Been on the A537 many a time - great fun.
The A and B7s or 7xx across Scotland also provide some exhilerating routes and magnificent scenery.

Anyone who knows Essex will know the Latchindon to Burnham road.
Around 17 to 20, 90 degree bends IIRC.

A nice little road that links two bits of the A470 south of Builth Wells, single track but almost Alpine pass in nature, found courtesy of SatNav when trying to get rouund a tailback caused by a prang. Struggle to find it ever again, brilliant bit of road.

Lived in the area for 30 years and the A537 has not penetrated my brain - always simply known as the Cat and Fiddle in Booxton!

The Mickleham bypass near Leatherhead in Surrey, it is where 10cc got the name for their album Deceptive Bends. A haven for motorcyclists though rather ruined by a reduction from two lanes to one, haven't been along there for a few years, it may have changed again.

I drove along the B3081 and back today, Zig Zag Hill is certainly bendy. To quote the OP's originally posted article:
" A mile-long stretch of the B3081, between Cann Common in Dorset and Tollard Royal, Wiltshire, came out top. One part of the road is called the Zig Zag Hill. Last month, the B3081 was criticised after a study by Dorset County Council showed that 54% of the road's surface was of "poor quality". "
The surface of Zig Zag Hll is fine the the road surface to the south is terrible, cracking views though.

Hey Doc - was on the road last week, cannot agree more then the road between Tobermory & Dervaig. I was more or less leaning forward all the way making no one was coming the other way!

And while we're in the area, the single track road to Applecross is worth a visit:
