thats a damm good point, i spent ages building a computer sold it to a guy i know and within 1/2 hour he rang me to say computer didnt work.
2 days later i found he had done exactly that,he had put the cable into the motherboard the wrong way round,he said he was tired i cant use the words i said, anyway the motherboard was scrap.

cannot get the usb in wrong way round without extreme force,come to that none of the connectors will go in wrong way round without force,some impossible!
But as software has been used for years on ecu`s why should microsoft be any worse

Because the two contacts are housed in the block on one side of the plug and repeated in the USB port - it's very obvious if you try to put the cable in the wrong way round that something is not right.
Computer cables and leads will either only go in one way or are clearly marked as to the correct insertion.
