HID conversion kits (Sprinter) - eurocourier
Thinking of fitting an HID kit in the original (i.e. non HID) lamps. In Backroomers' opinions, are the original headlight housings and lenses likely to be able to cope with the upgrade?

The kit suppliers say it's fine. A cynic might say they would!

Please don't do it.
The lack of self levelling will cause dazzle to other road users.
Try a bulb upgrade to Osram Silver Stars , I recommmend consumabulbs as a satisfied customer only.

I did it to my 330D and haven't had any complaints (being flashed by oncoming cars etc). I do have self levellers though.

if the bulbs dont sit in exactly the same place in the lamp then the beam pattern will be altered and therefore could cause dazzle and would be a test failure item.
I am therefore with gws.

If you order the correct bulb for your lamp (H1, H7 etc) then they will sit in exactly like the halogen bulb. The pattern doesn't automatically change when you swap to HID, its just that the HID is brighter. It will still illuminate the same things the Halogen did...only better.

You would be surprised how well you can see into the treads of HGVs in front of you and even check for corrosion inside the back box of cars 8-)
