I have looked at previous answers and still do not know for sure who makes Vauxhall oils. Surely someone must know 100%.
I do know that John Deere branded oil is made by Shell, Claas and McCormick oil is made by Morris.
So if I know about tractor oils, surely one of you petrolheads knows about car oils!

Morris oils make it for Delphi and GM.

You saw this by Ishok Leyland?
"Not sure who makes GM oil, but here some some facts:
The GM oil is made in Belgium.
I looked at who made oil in Belgium, could only find TotalElfFina.
GM Workshop oil is Shell Helix G.
The oil Delphi sells is in identical bottles with similar labels.
A motor factors around here once bought LOTS of the oil from the dealer and some were labelled Delphi."
If the oil is made in Belgium and the only refiner is TotalElfFina, I would think that's conclusive.
In the USA it appears to be ExxonMobil.

There are several oil suppliers in Belgium. Sunoco Europe have their HQ there. Texaco/Chevron have a production facility and big R&D place at Ghent. Castrol 5W-40 Synth is made in Belgium (according to the label on a bottle I have), and their 5W-30 is made in Germany!
Whoever makes it, it meets the spec and I have used it for some years and have no complaints.

The reason I suggested Morris above is because on ebay there is Morris Airforce oil for vane compressors, and the container is IDENTICAL to GM oil one bar the label print. However, it would seem that the Morris MOTOR oil container is not the same, so Morris might buy this hydrovane oil in from someone else, I too would put my money on the Total Elf Fina, however, they no longer say Belgium on the container since they changed to GM branding instead of Vauxhall, but maybe I saw this on the cardboard box they came in (pack of 4)
Hmmm, maybe we'll never know for sure, but funny how they'd use Shell helix for factory fill and workshop oil and someone else for the retail oil.
BTW:
PLYSU NV
Singel 18
B-9000 GENT - Belgium
make the HDPE container.

Containers and/or labels just can't be used to identify who makes an oil for a particular retail brand.
