If it's under warranty stick to your guns, if it's not buy a new one.

My fiance's 182 has a faulty CD player/radio. It jumps one minute and then its fine the next. Doesn't matter which CD is being used.
It is due to be fixed under warranty, but Renault want to remove the radio and send it away for repair leaving us with a gaping hole in the dashboard.
Can they do this? Can we demand that they replace the unit?

You are entitled to reject the good within a reasonable time under the Sale of Goods Act.
The CD player should be of satisfactory quality. To interpret this, durability comes into consideration. Are Renault going to provide compensation for the loss of enjoyment?
I have given up going to my Renault dealer, they are always rude, very unhelpful and charge the earth. I had a problem with overcharging and I let trading standards know, I then received a ful refund the next week.
Stick to your guns and make a scene if you have to. You are entitled to recompense in law so don't let them take you for a ride.

Have you tried a lens cleaning CD in it? I had a problem like this on my Peugeot and they actually took it in and "Reprogrammed it" - I thought that was only locking and ECUs but it worked. Obviously a new one under warranty is a result but if you are looking to pay for one yourself a £5 cleaning disc might be a good first try!
