i was wondering if it is possible to put fully synthetic diesel oil ie. 0-40w into a 1995 306 td or is this just for modern engines. i know its more expensive but am i right in thinking it lasts longer between services and works better when cold?
am i better sticking with my £12 tub if castrol GTD plus every 6000 miles
cheers

Dont bother, its not worth the extra expense keep changing every 6k, the fully synthetic may dislodge sludge and stuff that has built up with normal oil.

It's up to you, personally, I would, others wouldn't, there is no definitive answer.

If you dont have any problems with oil you are using, see no reason to change. fully will last longer between changes but is it worth the extra on a ten year old that has no problems-I have ten year old that should have semi in(I think its pug engine in rover)but use mineral oil as is castrol, but use Comma 10/40 works fine for me..change oil and filter every 5k,costs me £16 with filter
