I've got a Renault Clio 1.5dci (2002) that needs a replacement engine. I've found some bad reports about some firm in deleted ## and it seems best to avoid them. I've had a very good offer to do the job and a new, not used, engine from a firm of specialist renault breakers in Accrington. Anybody got any good or bad stories about them?
{## Although you've not mentioned the companies name; giving the area they're based in doesn't take a lot of working out as to who you're refering to - hence the deletion as per the forum no name/shame policy. DD}

I know Specialist Breakers very well ,they have a huge stock of NEW and USED parts both with warranty,there are also 3 Renault trained mechanics, and a time served engineer reconditioning gear boxs .They have done all the services and repairs to my car for the last three years .

I had a replacement engine a few years ago and it was agro all the way and a really bad job. I think in future I would have to get an engine done by a dealer or scrap the car...i think it is as drastic as that.

Try a Nissan breakers, same engine as the Micra.

Could be a nightmare, different mountings, ancilliaries etc.
