Starter motor enquiry on a MG ZS - MG ZS 180
hello, i've recently encountered some starting problems with my mg zs 180. it will click on turnover but not start. the strange thing is that it doesn't do it all of the time. i want to check all connections to the starter for corrosion and clean them up.

My question is where is the starter motor on my car (blushes) ? What kind of shape is it ?

Sounds like a dead spot on the windings repaired with a new one.It is a large tubular object fitted on the engine side going into the bell housing.

thanks for the reply. have you or anyone else had experience of starter motor failure ? would it just cease to work or would it gradually become worse until it dies ? mine is making a slight noise when engine is on.

Starter motors only work to start the engine. Either you're hearing something else or the starter is very ill indeed.
