Hi,
my (new to me) car has developed a serious 'creaking' noise when steering to the right. Whether the car is stationary or moving, I can acually feel the creak in the pedals. If I steer quickly to the right, its a quick 'creak', steer slow its a slow 'creeeeeak'.
Car,
Mondeo St200 4 Dr
Y reg 2001
23000 miles.
Tyres 215/45/17
Do steering racks creak? If so, is the cure a hand full of grease? Or could it just be the suspension as the car is very low and stiff and dosn't have much suspension travel. Or is it worse?

Hi
Did you ever sort this problem out? I've just developed exactly the same symtoms with my 2003 Mondeo (30,000) and I'm struggling to identify the cause.

Since then a man called Jan a high tech mech from QR Sport Tattenhall has sorted it. It was the steering column under the dash - a triangular section that has a telescopic insert within a nylon bush. The bush had dried causing this horrendous noise. Lubricated - done and dusted.
