Wifes car (R plate 1.9tdi) was shunted from rear pre christmas. Minor damage to bumper but split mounting plate for parking sensors (and damaged offside one of 4). System them inoperable: on selecting reverse would produce continuos beep for 3 seconds and then switch off (short?) or not operate at all. At repairers now, and they seem to be having some trouble making the system work again. Talking of taking it to main dealers to "reset system". Anyone any prior experience or knowledge?

All the sensors need to be in working order for the system to function correctly.Also the wiring to each sensor needs to be sound,the connectors and wiring are fairly small & easily broken.I do not think there is any reset procedure for this system; If everything is good then system will work.A simple test for each sensor is to select reverse gear ,ignition on but engine off,put your ear up close to each sensor, a faint "crackle" should be heard on a working sensor.HTH
