I have recently heard a dull thud on the nearside rear suspension over certain bumps not all. i was wondering if there are any bushes that can be replaced or is it the whole part that needs changing? if so i might wait to see if it gets worse.

That'll be the subframe mounts. They will just get noisier, but until you change them you won't realise how far off the handling has gone (nor perhaps how good it was ment to be in the first place!). The 4 mounts are about £50 from a factors, and take about half a day to change. I did the ones in my Wife's ZX before Christmas, and the agro was well worth the effort for the removal of the percussion department under the rear, and the improvement in the handling. It's possible without disconnecting the brakes, just dropping the subframe enough to change the mounts. I guess you'd be looking in the region £200 - £300 (depending on their labour charge, and how rusty the bolts are, and if any brake hoses need replacing) to get them done at an independent.

thanks for the reply i get a continous fast judder under heavy braking does this still sound like subframe mounts?
i didnt realise that it made such a difference to the handling

I also had this problem on my 306. Replacing the mounts makes a hell of a difference to the handling.
I done these at the same time as doing the front wish bones.
It was like driving a go-kart in comparision to what the handling had been.
