I have ordered some tyres off the internet and now need them fitting. Any suggestions on the cheapest national place to do this? ie, Kwik fit etc?
|
I thought the on line websites had directories of places that would fit them? In fact some of the online tyres are actually supplied through local dealers rather than by post or whatever.
I'd say you're more likely to get a favourable price at your friendly indy rather than a chain like Kwik Fit.

The small tyre shop round the corner is your best bet.
I doubt if Kwik Fit etc. will want to know if you didn't buy the tyres from them.

I tend to buy the fitting as well on the web, as tyre places tend to go into obnoxious mode when you take new tyres they haven't supplied for them to fit, and charge you through the nose.
In fact I had 2 tyres removed and then refitted and balanced (I won't bore you with why), and the tyre services charged me £20 for the pleasure. They had of course made sure they never had any repeat business from me !

J ust went to my local servicing garage, they did the last set for peanuts as I was having some other work done at the same time. Normally they say £10 per wheel (equates to somewhere between ten and fifteen minutes per wheel which is about right).

I've paid between £10 and £15, per tyre, at different local national chains, which is not bad when you think, it includes new valve, removal and disposal of old tyre, fitting new tyre and balancing. I've saved between £40 and £50 on the price of each tyre, by buying them online, so I'm still well in pocket. Most nationals are ok if you produce the printed off invoice or if the label with your delivery address and name is still on the tyre. One explained to me that they did not want to be seen to be fitting stolen tyres (where would you steal them from ?).
