NO BRAINER - get the R32!
|
|
Surely it will drive the same as they are basically the same car, and with it being an Audi not a VW, will have superior residuals?
Compare the price of, say, an S3 with a Mk4 GTI Turbo or a Leon Cupra R!
As for desired - errr, one is a VW Golf, nothing desireable about that, the other is an Audi..
|
Imagine a nice country mansion...an R32 would look more at home parked on the drive than an A3. In general yeah, Audi will have better residuals than a normal Golf (or any VW) but the R32 is a different breed!
|
Neither. Get an old-shape Seat Leon Cupra, save 10k/14K!
One of the chaps on the backroom sold his example for 8.4k last week...

As for desired - errr, one is a VW Golf, nothing desireable about that. You must be daft!! Of course golfs are desirable thats why there prices are >>
aboveany other hatchback.
Compared to a Focus or an Astra, sure, but Audi A3? It's more desireable than a Golf for sure, thats why it costs more and has an Audi badge.
Mind you driving the car you doo i dont expect you to know anything about used car prices?
I'm not entirely sure what that is supposed to mean?

The A3 3.2 is better looking, more understated, has a much nicer cabin and is available with a nice fat £2.5k+ discount via internet brokers, which actually makes it considerably cheaper than an equivalently specced R32. The badge is obviously nicer to have on your steering wheel boss too!
The drive is more comfort orientated and a bit more refined than the Golf but the performance is more or less identical. Can't argue with the latter's residuals though; the spectacular performance of the Mk IV R32 suggests that the new model will be a similarly good investment.
Having driven the GTi, it's a very nice, well-sorted car but rather off the pace for power these days, when you consider that a Civic R was making the same numbers the best part of five years ago. Outright peformance is only part of the package, of course.
|
I disagree with the looks really. I don't like the small Audis at all. And I certainly don't like the new Audis full stop (barring the A8 and A6).
I didn't like the Golf when it came out but seeing the GTi in the flesh (and the R32 on film), I have quickly changed my mind. Very nice looking cars indeed and in my opinion, looks a lot nicer than most (including the ST) similar cars today.

I would be suprised if the R32 has residual performance similar to that of the Mk4. The Mk4 R32 was launched over 4 years after the rest of the Mk4 Range, and was only ever available in small quantities until it was discontinued only a year or two after production started.
It would appear none of this is the case with the new R32. It is available not that long after the rest of the range and presumably has many years of production left.
