My 1991 Passat speedo overreads by about 10-12% (should be 10% or less) and all four tryes need changing.
Now the ones that are recommended in thew owners manual are either 185/65R14 or 195/60R14. I was hoping someone could tell me the diameter of each of these sizes and if one is smaller by a reasonable margin I may be able to improve my speedo accuracy....
thanks

Just answered my own question when I stumbled across www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html . Only 1% difference in diameter (and hence circumference) so not enough to justify specifically choosing one over the other.

185mm/65% of tread width by 14inch...14" size is the same size diameter. tread width is 10mm wider on 195....60 is slightly smaller%centage of tread width..speedo should be calibrated to tolerate this difference

I am looking at replacing all 4 tyres on my car, presently 185/65/14 would 195/60/14 go on these rims? as they might be cheaper.

A lot of tyres would go on those rims but I would stick to those recommended in your owners manual, otherwise you may have problems if you had an accident and an overzealous insurance assessor was on the case.

Thanks,
Looked at My Tyres and the 195/60 option was not cost effective.
