Agree with you on that mss1tw. Bit good at sailing though:
My choice:

Best fantasy car: Bugatti Veyron
Most desirable car: BMW M5 E39
Motoring hero: Richard Burns
Most overrated car: Mondeo TDCi (totall agree!)
Biggest surprise: My Alfa being bought from an Auction and not breaking down once (touch wood...)

Best New Gadget(to me anyway): My laptop. old technology changing my lifestyle. Will never go back to a desktop
Best Car Magazine: Evo, went away from it but getting better.

Best fantasy car: The Veyron
Most desirable car: Mon...ahem, Impreza for me.
Motoring hero: Richard Burns
Most overrated car: BMW Xx
Biggest surprise: The lovely £3000 redundancy payout that went towards the Pug. Either that or my other car failing to pass the one in front via osmosis. :o(
Top disappointment: The NERC bill and other anti green laning measures being passed. Not suprising though.
Biggest Con: Fuel Cost
Best New Gadget(to me anyway): Not sure.
Best Car Magazine: I don't buy one. Motoring realted, RiDE.

Fuel strikes not very clever IMHO. Inconveniencing millions of motorists who are trying to earn a living is no way to get their support. My suggestion, some months ago, was that anybody with a grouch about the Government should go and picket the HQ of the Government Car Pool and inconvenience just the ministers etc who are annoying the protesters, and not annoy the rest of us who want a life and a living!
|
My choices
Top (Motoring ish) TV Show: Top Gear
Best fantasy car: Bentley Continental
Motoring hero: Richard Burns
Most overrated car: Mondeo TDCi OK it's good but come on!!!!
Biggest surprise: Kids' 1987 VW Golf passing its MOT again
Biggest Con: Fuel Cost
Best New Gadget: Auto dimming rear view mirror (I'm easily pleased)
Best Car Magazine: Practical Classics
Most entertaining backroom contributions: Growler/Growlette

The Mondeo does keep showing up in posts, doesn't it?
Can't keep a good car down, lol.

The mondeo is a good car, so are most other cars in its class. The more cars I drive, the more I am convinced that, at least in the 2 litre diesel sector, there are few if any really bad cars.
But IMO, and cars are a very personal taste for most of us, it is nothing special.

Which is my opinion of it also.

This is a slight deviation off the topic, but if I had to list one of the top posts on this site from this year it would be the '200k in a year' by that taxi bloke...wonder how his project is going?

Top disappointment: Vauxhall Vectra. A truly horrid machine, apparently designed to ride like a Kangaroo
Did you fit into skippy's pouch to compare then?
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who know absolutely nothing about cars but still think they're motoring experts.

It doesn't take much technical knowledge to realise that the ride in one type of car is harsh and uncomfortable, but that another model is much smoother.
It never ceases to amaze me that the amount of people who think that because they reckon they know something about the technicalities that means that nobody else is entitled to comment on their experience of the product :P

Nowheels,
for your information, I have a Vectra and it does not ride like a kangaroo. That said, I've not tried riding skippy or one of his friends to find out, as I'm not into kinky perversions of that nature. I do however know that the ride quality of my Vectra is not bouncy in the slightest but is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned.

Caveman, I guess we'll have to differ on that! It may that the Vectra I have been riding in was a duff one, but I honestly found it very unsettled. Looking around, I don't seem to be alone in that view: www.carkeys.co.uk/road_test/vauxhall/7467.asp
Glad you are pleased with yours, though!
