1.9 XUD or HDi?

If XUD this may give you some ideas,

The intercooler bit will not apply but rest should be of some help.
Suggest you first check each glowplug for resistance in situ to determine if any are o/c. They should be about 1 ohm each.
Do not be tempted by cheap glowplugs, BERU get consistently good reports.

Beru were used by Ford as OE.

If it is not the HDI then changing the plugs is not to difficult.......but I would check them first..however, in my experience the 306 needs good plugs otherwise they are really bad starters.
you will need (this is just a recommendation) 8mm/12mm socket (with flex end on a 1/4 inch set) 12mm deep socket (on 3/8 set) 12mm spanner,
If you have a DT.....10mm spanner, 6mm allen key and a flat head screw driver (or a 7 (could be 8mm depending on build) socket.
The Haynes manual for these cars is very good, and well worth a purchase if you want to save money (Ebay, dirt cheap).
Alternatively, if you live anywhere near Leicestshire, let me know, I'm sure I can sort you out....
Oh, I always use Bosch Duraterm plugs, a little more expensive but they are they best...I have had mine fitted for ages and she is a sweet as a nut.

It also depends on whether you have a Bosch or Lucas fuel system.
As with the Lucas you don't have to remove the Intercooler and with the Bosch you do.???
|
It might not say Lucas-it might say CAV or Rotodiesel but they are all the same.

hi, remove the plugs from the head and test them by putting a live feed from the battery to the top of the plug and earth to the body and watch to see if it "glows" it should go red at the end of the plug, ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN RED OR THEY CAN BURN OUT, you may only have to change 1 or 2 if you can't afford to change the set.
