Laguna II clutch pedal - Collos25
My newly aquired Laguna has a pedal problem it does not always return ,I understand that this is caused by a faulty master cylinder. My question is, where is it and what sort of job is it to replace it.Regards Andy

RF had this go on his Laguna. No doubt he will be along soon. Quite a common problem on Lagunas and Espaces I understand but at least on the Laguna it's easier to replace.

Andy, yes you have the symptoms spot on, its the master cylinder.

Cant help in where and how its fixed, i just threw the keys (sorry card) at the dealer and said - "clutch - Warranty - fix now - Courtesy car - give now"

I aquired a new clutch master cylinder ,you do not need any tools to fit it would gestimate about 15mins to fit no more. You do require a long 9mm socket to bleed it due to the nipple being buried under a mass of pipes the rest is snap fit including the pipe, its no wonder they go wrong what a piece of flimsy plastic and all for £79 and it also comes all the way from Brasil.

£79 seems very reasonable for this part.

should last you about 30-40,000 miles.

Like a lot of parts on Renaults, these clutch hydraulics are junk. It just amazes me that they got it to work in the first place.......I don't regard £79 as cheap either.

I reckon it cost under a pound to make.

It must be different top the one I fitted on my VW a few years back then. That was quite a substantial thing.
