- Renault Family {P} you are assuming new car, loom untouched as left factory, many cars have them retro fitted for in car cruising lights etc and quite a few accesories are not polarity sensitive.

I had to repair my 12v heater thing...what a pain accessory sockets are to solder! I have feeling the solder will come apart again, the plug gets quite hot!
Thanks for the help all - appreciate it.

good man,a basic multimeter will tell you which is positive,if it is an aftermarket fit as it seems it is can i suggest an in line fuse just in case something goes wrong in the future they arent dear at somewhere like halfords and you could use spade terminals or crimp on.
|
Well Maplins do 2 kinds, but it only seems to have a 1A or 3A fuse: www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1054&doy=22m...D
I've just seen this part, too:
The plug has a continuous current rating of 2A (3A at 12V) and a maximum short term rating of 10A.
Dang.
