Why do petrol prices always end in .9? ie 88.9, 85.9?
|
I've often wondered what would happen if you bought one litre and wrote a cheque for 92.9p.

>>Still Sainsbury better that if you use the 5p per litre voucher issued instore .... just spend £50 on groceries>>
Same at Tesco - but would you really want to spend at least £50 in Tesco or Sainsbury merely to save 5p on a litre of petrol....?
If I had an empty tank and filled it to the brim I'd save the remarkable sum of £2.70.
No contest.

Well we have managed an average of £100 a week at Tesco's for the last few years with no ill effects so that can't be that bad ....
Where do you shop?
|
>>Where do you shop?>>
Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl - but as there are only two of us the average weekly shopping bill is only around £25-30 (just over £10 this morning at Tesco), hence no 5p off a litre unless my son donates his vouchers.
The money saved is spent on the black and white stuff from Ireland...:-)

Im a student ive got time!!!

at 55 litres I save £2.75... but with the two of us it is more like 75 litres .... £3.75 ... perhaps shopping every 2 weeks is the solution ....
|
...plus get the points for your Tesco ClubCard and you're on a winner all round...
I put about £50 - £60s worth a time in, that's effectively £2 - £2.40 towards next year's holiday (or MOT or RAC membership etc) each time I fill up.
Mrs S & I are Off to a four star hotel Egypt for a week next weekend purely on the Tesco ClubCard points! :-)

If you do a high mileage weekly then it's sensible - in my case I don't see the point in carrying a full tank of fuel (the equivalent of an additional passenger) when it's not warranted.

If petrol weighs the same as water, it's 1kg per litre. So the top half of an average tank is 30kg, which is the weight of a largeish dog or a smallish child. But I think petrol weighs 0.7kg per litre, so it's even less. But each to his own.

You've forgotten the bottom half...:-)
I always remember that a gallon of water weighs 10lbs - multiply that by 12 and you are carrying approximately eight-and-a-half stones with (in my case) a full tank of fuel.
As certain specialist car manufacturers go to enormous lengths to cut out even the slightest amount of unnecessary weight, there is method in the madness.
