hi, my girlfriends clio (n reg)front window screen is leaking slightly. when its icey it freezes on the inside!
the rubber seal at the top has come away slightly (approx 1 foot in lengh). what can i do to ;

1. put the seal back in (it keeps popping back out as soon as the pressure is off)? could i use glue?

2. stop it from leaking, could i use bathroom silicone sealant?

i don't wont to spend lots of money, just want to fix the problem as easy and as cheap as possible.

thanks

jamie

If it's just the trim coming away at the top then that won't cause a leak as it is just a trim. The adhesive behind the black band around your screen also acts as the seal. But if you are getting ice on the inside of your screen then there is way too much damp in the car. Try not to use a silicone sealer as silicone activly attacks the polyurathane adhesive and will over time (many years admitidly) destroy the seal. If it definatly is the windscreen leaking then your best bet is to pop into one of the replacement companies in your area and get them to look at it.

You could try a non-silicone based sealant. This is an oldish car, you may not want to spend too much money on it.

my windscreen man would sort that for £25/£30 job done.

Strongly recommend Halfords clear silicone sealant to glue the rubber seal in place. Comes in small tube and not expensive. I used it on my old Scenic screen rubber and repair was sound for the remainder of the time I owned the car, certainly better than the Dealer's pathetic attempt.
