Anyone seen it? Absolutely superb and very cleverly done.

They?ve stolen the idea from some pop n roll band (can?t remember which) who made a video all set in Al?s diner and which was even superber and utterly betterly done. You just couldn?t see any joins.

They were called Weezer, who performed the Buddy Holly video.

DD, You beat me to it!

Oops, where did that screw go!!

The group is called 'Weezer' and the Video was for a song called 'Buddy Holly' IIRC. That group mostly do witty vids. and the musics not bad either.

Well if you're going to steal my thunder then fine!

If anyone has an old Windows 95 CD lying around, they'll find the Weezer video there. It was very cleverly done but you could see that characters were wearing different clothes in different shots.

This ad is aimed at a generation that does not remember Happy Days so surely an own goal by Citroen...
Adam do you remember Happy days?
|
Eyyyyyyyyy.
Ohh yes. I've modelled my life on being The Fonz. Maybe that's why I'm not that popular.
Monday Tuesday Happy Days. Wednesday Thursday Happy Da....
...well you get the idea.
|
Of course he does - Adam is 56 years old

No mate, this is the generation that thinks what the Fonz generation got up to is charmingly old-fashioned and out of touch. So much so that the thought of such people (the pre-baby boomer generation primarily, but in reality anyone over 35) driving stylish new Citroens is a joke. I think they call it irony old bean and Citroen have it exactly right.
Anyway, everyone remembers Happy Days, just not the first time round. The thing about nostalgia is that it's just not the same any more.

"Well if you're going to steal my thunder then fine!"
I felt sorry for you cos no one had replied to your thread. It was a pity post.
Soz mate.
|
I'll take any replies I can Dave.
Cheers!

To bring this back to a motoring theme,
Apart from The Fonz being a motor mechanic, he rode a variety of motorbikes....
In the very early episodes he rode custom Harley-Davidson models. In the later episodes he rides a Triumph motorcycle. Overall, the Fonz rode a variety of models including Harley Panhead, Harley Knucklehead, Harley Sportster, Triumph 500 CC Twin, Trophy 650 CC and a BSA.
Now can anyone else keep this thread to a motoring discussion, or have I got to lock it?

I had a 1.8 ZX Aura and a 1.9 ZX Volcane (both purchased new), and during my time of ownership they weren't all happy days by any means.

True words when it comes to French cars in general !
I cannot see how this advert or the robot dancing C4 advert is going to make anyone want to buy into their £1 shop car making world.
|
Maybe the joint Toyota / Peugot /Citreon Czech factory standards - which must be Toyota Quality standards (or the Aygo car would not have a Toyota badge) might rub off on the French Company and their engineers..........then again it would then not have the characteristics of a French car.
Peugeot had 2 out of the bottom 3 in the latest "JD Power Top Gear Survey" - Renault had the other one

They have stolen the idea from Ford who had the guy from Easy Rider (who's name escapes me) driving a Cougar IIRC, or was it a Puma?
|
"They have stolen the idea from Ford who had the guy from Easy Rider (who's name escapes me) driving a Cougar IIRC, or was it a Puma?"
Wasn't that Steve Mcqueen from "Bullitt"? He wasn't in Easy Rider - that was Dennis Hopper or Peter Fonda
Phil
|
Yes, Dennis Hopper was in Easy Rider, you are right about it being Steve McQueen in a Ford ad though IIRC there was one with Dennis Hopper too?

How can you forget Steve Mcqueen and remember Denis Hopper and Peter Fonda !
But seriously, that ad was superb, even down to the brief shot of the Great Escape motorbike in the garage when he got home.

even down to the brief shot of the Great Escape motorbike in the garage when he got home.
I remember now though which Ford was it for?
Also which Ford was the Dennis Hopper one for or am I dreaming?
|
the guy from Easy Rider (who's name escapes me)
Dennis Hopper, and it was a Cougar.
|
Ok it's getting on my nerves now. Has to be the 15th time today.

Am I being thick here (and not for the first time)....what's has Happy days got to do with a compact Citroen? Much as I like the C3, I can't see its image is anything to do with the fifties, Fonz - it's more Potsie than Fonzarelli.
What would Ralph Malph drive? I think the Golden Fabia would be an excellent choice for Ritchie Cunningham
--Lee .. sorry, the card says Moops.

The advertising slogan on the Citroen website says "The Citroen C3 was designed for happy days"
Goto the Citroen website and watch the making of the advert for a full explanation.
