There is some recent discussion of oil extractors here www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?f=2&t=36...2

Mine is great, been borrowed by loads of people for various tasks very few of which were draining oil!
Worth shopping around, Nauticalia were the cheapest when I brought mine.

They don't work on engines that have a horizontal baffle in the sump - for obvious reasons. Don't know about your Renault...

I have the 'big Pela' (I think its the 615?). Look at this item on Ebay: 4412882288 It looks *exactly* the same as my Pela and comes out at about £43 inc. shipping - quite a bargain I would say - I think my Pela was the best part of £65.
I occasionally use my Pela, but I have an inspection pit which makes draining oil my preferred method. Snag with the Pela is that (a) you're never sure all the oil is out, and (b) it gets a bit messy when you pull the pipe out of the dipstick tube and oil dribbles out onto your shoes etc. I find conventional draining is actually a bit less messy. I can see that if you only have a driveway for servicing a Pela would be more convenient though....

No. I don't even have a driveway. I find the best way to change the oil is to find a suitable kerb and pop one side of the car onto the kerb. And make sure the car is pointing down towards the sump plug. Even better than your pit!
