Peugeot 407 had weird electronic computer generated sounding indicators. New Mondeo has half decent sounding indicators. Audi S8 R reg had indicators so quiet, you had to struggle to work out if they were on or not.
How come there is such variation in sound/volume of indicators?

Because in the old days it just used to be the sound of the relay or flasher unit clicking.
They dont have those things these days, so they have to generate one. Its up the designers how they do it.

Like the shutter on a digital camera.

You should hear the one in the current Corsa.

The one in my Vectra is very authentic. Vauxhall have got it sounding just like a relay does when it tick tocks.
Shame they couldn't manage the same sound in the latest Astra's though. Very synthetic and false sounding.

I hope they never invent something that mimics the sound of a handbrake being applied without the knob being pressed in!
