Jensen Interceptor - Ecurie Ecosse
Hi guys

At the Classic Car Show in Birmingham, which was fantastic as usual, I saw a few Interceptors which I adore.

On the windscreen of one was a book open at a page with a picture which showed the last Series 3 (I think) leaving the production line. Two workers were standing beside the car holding a sign which said "Fly high silver bird, may you never want for petrol or oil.......".

It was incredibly poignant and sad. Now, do any of you have this pic or know where I can get it?

Cheers

Isn't their fuel consuption easier to measure in gallons per mile?
Just jealous.

They are fantastic cars there is no two ways about that. However, take great care, there are a lot of sheds out there, dont even think about a restoration project.

I remember moving house in 1990. The new owners had an Interceptor that they left us to look after for a few days before moving. Removal men spent most the morning gawping at it before packing the contents of the house into the van.

Having seen this my dad (at the old house) warned my mum (at the new) and the garage was kept safely closed until all furniture was safely in the house. 1930's Bentley belonging to previous owner could be gawped at for the rest of the day...

Still one or two about. One passed my house a few weeks ago - a lovely sight and sound...

Jensen Interceptor - what a cool name!

You could always rely on it in Top Trumps with that huge 7l engine.

And of course it was the car of choice in a number of novels for the best secret agent ever, in my opinion.

Hard to think of a better one, really. Is Jensen Button's name in homage, does anyone know?

Reverting to the OP's name. In 1994 I was in New Hampshire leaf peeping and stayed in a private house in which the owners let out rooms on a B&B basis for the season. The other couple staying there were from the UK and very well spoken (well I am from the north). The man (whose name I forget) had been the team manager for Ecurie Ecosse or in some other high position. Probably about 65 or so at that time.

IIRC it is Jensen Interceptor though Jenson Button, so I guess, no.

Excellent meeting the guy from Ecurie Ecosse - the team really sums up a by gone age.

Button's name is in homage to Jensen cars - his Dad just wanted to use a more English spelling.

"a more English spelling"

I had a feeling it was different, but I couldn't remember how!
