If you use Internet Explorer cookies are controlled from Tools>Internet Options>Privacy tab>Advanced button.
You should Enable Override Automatic Cookie Handling (i.e tick the box), tick Accept First Party Cookies, tick Prompt for Third Party Cookies and Allow Session Cookies.
This is about the safest combination and you can choose whether to accept or block cookies from websites about which you have doubts.
Websites run by reputable companies will be OK to allow cookies - these are generally harmless and may be needed for you to enter personal details, for instance, if you are making an online purchase.

I really like the look of the smartphone-based sat nav for £200. Just got a Nokia 6680 upgrade- would work nicely, although the screen is not huge. Anyone tried this?

I've bored everyone already with my comments on the Navicore system (very similar, I think) It's excellent Alex. Very pleased with it, and it's one less thing to carry (i.e. phone AND Satnav) when you leave the car. Bluetooth receiver is tiny, and means you can use the system as a pedestrian navigation systm (albeit it doesn't mark footpaths) in cities.
