I think all of us would have been shocked and frightened at first had a tin exploded inside the car, although, I think that after a few minutes when there was no obvious signs of blood, I might have started thinking a little more sensibly!

It is a little shocking when you're driving to have a can explode.
Cruising around sunlit and bumpy streets in Paris looking for the apartment we had rented for a few days, I hadn't realised that one of the kids had put a can of coke on the back shelf. As well as the startling bang, no part of the car or us escaped being showered.
Taking advantage of the unlimited parking concession offered during the month of August in selected streets - saved us a fortune - we parked the car up round the corner, and because spaces were in demand and we had been lucky to find one, left the car where it was. When we returned to pack it at the end of our stay, could I get the hatch open? At first I thought we had been rearended by someone parking behind us, a regular occurance in Paris where they still believe, perhaps erroneously these days, that bumpers are for bumping. An elderly Parisienne [the kids had asked me what people in Paris were called and I had mischievously told them 'Parisites'] looked on with knowing sympathy as I examined the back of the car for damage with our suitcases on the trottoir (pavement).
Then I realised it was the Coca Cola which was by now baked and forming an effective weld on the seals.....
