Have the back seats up and carpet out of the 306 while fixing leaks and drying the carpet.
Underneath the insulation I found several square chunks of glass - I assume this is car glass.
The panel that the boot 'catch' is located under seems to have some undulations, although I don't know if these are just loading dents - the strange thing is that the panels the lights are mounted on don't seem to have any.
Is there anyway to see if a new boot has been welded in?
Also the front nearside wing has some different colour paint on it. Maybe this means it was a second hand wing?
Apart from any safety aspects, there's the fact that if the chassis is bent then I won't be able to get these leaks to stop! ;-)

Have look at the bolts where the hatchback hinges onto the body - have they been undone?
Also park under a streetlight, that often shows up differences in paint colour
It might not have any welds, if it has been shunted, it might have sinmply been straightened on a jig.

Compare welds left to right and with other welds on the car. Production spot-welds should all look similar. A row of production spot-welds will (in general) be evenly spaced and in a uniform line, not higgledy piggledy. Compare the shape of sealant on joints between one panel and another.

Thanks guys. Going to take the bumper(s) off at the weekend for a thorough look. Anyone has any comments please add.

Daft question, but if you do find evidence of a shunt, what are you going to do about it?
|
Well I got my father to do an HPI check on it before buying, which he said came back clean, and the seller said he'd had no accidents, and as it was a lease car originally I imagine any accidents with the first owner would have gone through the books, so to speak.
So if the worst came to the worst I would take the seller to court.

A car can have a hundred accidents and not appear on the hpi register. hpi records write-offs, not dings.
|
|
Now either that means you are a little annoyed that hpi doesn't record every accident or you doubt me. If the former you have my sympathy.

Yes it does...and thanks. :o)
