Enteprise are usually competitive depending on the duration etc (usually offer good deals over weekends). Try using www.yell.com & you will be rewarded with alot of results. Most of the companies have outlets on the Marsh Barton trading estate & many will deliver & collect locally. Quite a few of the local dealerships also offer car hire, best to ring around & play them off against each other.

Car Hire in Exeter? - ukbeefy
I rent cars quite a bit in London and the cheapest way I do it is to go via Holiday Autos as they have a very cheap £2 a day excess waiver product. Normally this costs about £10 a day from the hire care office itself to reduce the £400 or so excess (remember the excess operates even if damage occurs to the vehicle that is not you fault eg vandalism or someone driving into you).

The way to get the cheapest quote is to find another online car rental broker eg www.carjet.co.uk and then get a quote for the car ex the excess waiver...then call Holiday Autos and use their price match promise then ask for the excess waiver to be added.... This way I get car rental at my local Alamo/National at about 20% off...so about £69 all in for a 3 day rental. Also I book the cheapest Ford Ka and as they have practically none of these anyhow (I know as I walk past the depot every day) you always get a Corsa...

As an aside I find watching what turns up at the car rental office as a new vehicle an interesting proxy for what might not be selling well in the normal market...The National place near me seems to be changing vehicles almost every 2-3 months and its forecourt is stuffed with Corsas, Peugeot 307s like they are going out of fashion, Micras and Skoda Octavias, Vectras...plus a surprising number of Saab 9 5s.....
