The fan on swmbo's car has been working when it feels like it, but has now stopped altogether.(previously a few rapid movements of the slide control would bring it back to life).
Can anyone give me any idea where to start looking.
Many thanks

My (late 1994) 405 had a heater fan which worked intermittently. It turned out that the main spade-shape connector on the supply cable was a loose fit - I just crimped it slightly and the problem never returned. The fan unit is easy to access under the dashboard in the passenger footwell.
Good luck! - Bob

Yes, probably the best place to start is to check that the fan itself is receiving current - it's fairly easy to get at. Stick a test meter in the right terminals on the supply lead (Haynes will tell you the colours).
No power to fan on any switch setting, and you'll have to work backwards. My next suspect would be the switch.

I buried my head in the footwell as you suggested and checked the supply and problem solved. (And a happy wife)
Thanks
