Auction prices - trancer
Did a forum search for information on BCA auctionview and was disappointed that I couldn't access sale prices of cars, but saw that account holders could. Are there any account holders here that would be willing to look up the sold prices/average info for a particular model?. I'll buy you a Paypal pint for your troubles.

If this contravenes any site rules or gets HJ in trouble with one of his sponsors, appologies in advance and please delete.

I think the best way is to go yourself to a large auction a few times and note the prices as any that have passed will be out of date.Glasses price guides are still pretty much the bible and are normally well guarded,you could have a car worth £5000 on a Monday a new months guide comes out and its dropped £600 by Wednesday or there is a shortage of good Hondas for instance and the price goes up.

As said above you really need to attend a few auctions to get a proper idea of the prices relative to the condition of the vehicle.

Thanks for the link, I came across it during the forum search, but it didn't show any sales of the model I am after. I have been to the local BCA, but again didn't see what I was after and was considering trying another site a bit further away, but thought I would try the easy (lazy?) way first.

I was trying to avoid relying on any guides (Glasses etc) as presumably they don't take into account a nasty weather/pre-christmas, low auction turn-out. Or is that car buying theory a thing of the past?.

Rare?, hardly. 02 or newer BMW 320d SE, pretty much run of the mill sales-rep wheels. According to Top Gear it out sold the Mondeo!. One can only wish that meant low re-sale value due to sheer volume of them on the road.

pleanty of 320d stock there ( 21 right now ).

or are those too expensive for your liking?

i am given to understand that their stock comes mainly from auctions and lease companies and their pricing is usually 10% to 15% mark up over auction value.

Thanks Jonathan, just what I was after. Were those from a price guide or from auctionview?. Have you got Paypal?, your Kronenberg is going flat.

The Car Giant stock looks inline with the prices I am seeing from local small traders. I was after the auction prices to see if there was enough of a savings over those trader prices to warrant taking a risk on an auction purchase. If I can only save @ £500 (after auction fees etc) then it probably isn't. I don't think I will be scoring an auction bargain, not on that car anyway.
