Does anyone know an easy way to tell if above car has ABS?. I plan to change the front pads and wanted to buy the pads beforehand, but the car is not present and the owner wouldn't be able to remove wheels to look for associated ABS gubbins. Its a T reg 1.4i "west coast" petrol if that helps
No owners manual came with car.

If it has ABS, then a check light should illuminate on the dash when you first turn the key.

If you have a quick look under the wheel arch with the wheels on full-lock you should be able to see if these is an electrical connection down to the brake caliper area. If not you haven't got ABS.
I would suspect on this model you don't, as our 2000 X Xsara 1.4 Forte didnt.

You could always go on some wet grass...

Thanks for all the tips (was really tempted by the wet grass one). I took a look on autotrader for that model and the majority of them listed ABS so I took a chance and got ABS specific pads. They fit fine, thought I did snap the original lug tool and bent a Peugeot one into a U-shape trying to get the wheel bolts off. What was the last person to do them up thinking!!!.
