Clio front suspension bearings - farmerhuw
Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to replace the front suspension bearings on a 1993 Clio diesel. Is it a job I could do myself....I know you need a spring compressor tool, so can you hire these??

Many Thanks

hi, its probably to late now, but you do not need a spring compressor as the spring and strut stay in situ.
you need to take the bolt out of the bottom ball joint, the 2 large bolts through the strut bottom, the track rod end and the large 32mm drive shaft nut. You can then take the hub to the press or a vice and remove the bearing, It should take you about an hour and a half first time round, I can now do them in 30 mins on a ramp.
good luck.

I think he means the bearings at the top of the strut, not the hub bearings.Yes you will need a compressor, make sure you get a good quality set, there is a fantastic amounr of potential energy in a compressed spring.Otherwise a straightforward job.

You can buy them for £10-15.
