3 Series Waiting Time - Woody
I must say the new 3 series has really grown on me and I would seriously consider a 320 ES or 320D ES.

Does anyone know the main dealer waiting times at present?

There is no excesive waiting list for this car - supply is good. A normal factory order is 8 to 12 weeks, but if you are not too fusy about colour / spec you will be able to get one more quickly.

Tourings may be in short supply since they have only just been launched, so a factory order might be the only way to get one of these, though initial launch stocks seemed high. Showroom cars seem to be highly specc'ed 325i/330i Tourings - funny that:-)

Delivery on 1s was 3 months (take your chances on colours and spec) when SWMBO was looking.Waited 4 months for my 535 which is due next month. Not holding my breath.

Quite surprised how quickly available. Doesn't bode well for future residuals does it?

I bought a new 318 on a T plate when the last 3 came out and had to wait 6 months. Naively, I tried to get a discount, but the dealer stared at me and said "Look, do you want the car or not!"

I got a set of mats out of sympathy.

A great car but small boot and growing family meant it had to go for a Freelander (let's not go there). Then a CRV for the wife (brilliant) and an A4 1.8T for me, followed by setting up a business and swapping the A4 for a humble Leon.

Now ready to take the plunge. Head says second hand A4, heart says new 320i ES.

I know the ES is cheaper than the SE, but with the run flat tyres, I think you will find the sports suspension on the ES far too hard.

IMHO You really ought to road test both models before making your decision.

Test Drive for as long as you can over as many surfaces as you can, it could seriously wind you up....Try telling a BMW dealer that you don't want the run flats.....
