can any one tell me how 2 remove the heater matrix without removing the dash.

Don't know on this model but usually complicated.I think you will need a manual for detailed instructions and diagrams.

Do a forum search here, you may find that some vw garages will still do a free 'warranty' replacement if it has never been done before. They were still doing them about 3 years ago!
