Wheel Clamping - Miller
Perhaps this is an urban myth, but I have heard that if you get a third party (say a garage) to come out and remove a wheel clamp from your car WITHOUT damaging it then there is nothing the clamping firm can do with regards collecting a fine.....

I think you will find it is an urban myth. If you instruct someone else to remove a clamp, then you are party to the offence of removal. I feel sure that a full legal answer will be along shortly.

SFAIK removing any clamp that anybody has put on your vehicle is not an offence - damaging the clamp in the course of removing it is an offence. Wasn't there some dodge of deflating the tyre and getting the clamp off?

I would imagine it depends who put it there.

If I was to clamp your car you would have every right to remove the clamp in the same way that you have every right to remove a flyer I put under your wiper.

However, I'd imagine that changes if the clamp is put on by someone "official".

Wheel Clamping - local yokel
Wasn't there a case of a Citroen owner (BX perhaps), whose car was clamped? Was able to remove the clamp without damaging it and got away with it?
