Does your car have a rear spoiler fitted?

Options:

- Yes. I have more than one because my car's so fast I need the extra weight to slow it down.

- Yes. I have an aftermarket spoiler that I fitted so I look cool. And boy, do I.

- Yes. I have a factory-fitted spoiler, but it's definitely a spoiler.

- Yes. I have an Audi TT that was recalled to have a spoiler fitted so I don't die.

- I have a bit of bodywork that appears to be designed to do the job of a spoiler.

- I have an MPV with perpendicular roof bars that I've moved to the back to try and make my C8 look a bit like the A Team van.

- No. My car's backside is naked.

- I have no car. What am I doing here?

I have even seens a roof spoiler on the back on a Hyundai Trajet Diesel Automatic (no, not my wife's). Stupid or what?

There is even one lacking from the rear of my Subaru Forester Turbo from which we can deduce that they are of little use at standard UK speeds.

LOL

I particularly like those aftermarket racing-style spoilers - especially when applied to a bog standard 1.6 hatchback.......

You missed an option. The spoiler that pops up only when you need it a la 911.

So no, I don't have one. Oh yes I do. Oh no I don't. Oh yes I do. Oh, no officer I know it pops up at 75 but there's this little button here that pushes it up for cleaning which I must have knocked accidentally...

Yes. I have a factory-fitted spoiler, but it's definitely a spoiler. [x]

I have a bit of bodywork that appears to be designed to do the job of a spoiler, but is nothing more than a plastic lip under the rear windscreen. [x]

What's the point of putting a spoiler on a front wheel drive car? Won't it just reduce traction to the front wheels?
Spoilers - Dynamic Dave
You missed an option.

And another option. A heated spoiler to keep your hands warm when you break down and have to push it ;o)

Bah. There's always one isn't there.

"On no Jon... you only considered spoilers that exist in three dimensions, not four. Mine varies though time as well. And in a parallel universe I just have a big spoiler out of which a car appears when required. And a unicorn."

Another case for an edit button?

:-D

Actually mine has a fifth dimensional existence that allows me to take advantage of wormholes in time and space and thereby travel greater distances in the same time. So when I appear in 3 dimensions to be travelling at 95 mph, I'm only actualy travelling at 69 mph along the multi-dimensional path enabled by the spoiler. All of which is totally true, Officer.

Yes. That is to say Toad the Supra has a factory-fitted spoiler, and it's very definitely a spoiler. I don't have one, it would be uncomfortable.

Spoilers - BazzaBear {P}
I don't have one, just a delightfully shaped rump which already does the necessary aerodynamic job, and avoids looking absurd.
Still talking about the car here by the way.

Oh dear, I was just about to ask you for a piccie ...

My favourite application for a spoiler was by Ford.

In the late 80s/early 90s they sold on the Irish market a diesel Fiesta van with a factory-fitted spoiler on the back and go-faster stripes on the side. There were lots of them on the roads then, and it struck me as a piece of marketing genius, a way of making a young sales-rep feel that his van was a boy-racer's dream.

there is a cavalier gsi through the hedge down the road this morning which has a hoopy spoiler, bit like the ones on a mitsi evo.

my volvo diesel estate has a silly thing fitted as standard by volvo - I assume its to improve airflow and reduce the muck on the rear screen.

I have to say that (when I had one) the 911 spoiler got lots of attention. Stopping at roundabouts and lights I used to regularly see people pointing at it going down (oh err missus) when I stopped.

what about those cossie jobs ? Or anyone remenber the panther solo - now *that* was a spoiler.
Spoilers - AlastairW
Round my way there is some loon who has a white, old shape, merc C250D (not even a turbo!) with the most ridiculous hoop style spoiler. It makes me smile every time i see it.

I particually love(not) those ones that look like someone has gone wild with a Meccano set and an Allen key.

156 Sportwagon has a spoileresque bit that is kind of spoileryish.

Although an Alfa fan, the high-level "hoop" spoiler that was available as part of the Sport Pack 3 factory option is wrong on every single level.

Agreed!, if ever a peice of body kit was correctly named thats it.... A spoiler, does exactly what it says on the box.

Oh.. and nothing spoils my spider or my berlina, my punto needs no extra spoiling, it came pre-spoiled at design time, no add ons required.

I have a spoiler on my Mondeo. I think it looks really quite good and much better than without it.

There's not one on the back of my Cavalier and never will be.

There's one on the back of the GT3 that I've got a half share in. As the stability imrpoves above 130mph I'll say that it does have a significant effect.

Would a strip of black plastic above the rear window with all the aerodynamic capabilites of a breeze block count?

I remember (purely as a kid, of course) the reaction to the first Porsche 911 Turbo in 1975. It was one of the first production high performance cars to have a big rear wing, a protuberance that seemed so extravagant at the time that Motor Sport magazine described the car as 'the fastest picnic table in Europe'.

Mine's got a factory fit one.

No practical use but it tidys up the lines at the back of my car.

Mine is fitted inside the car.
She keeps saying, "slow down, slow down"
Spoilers - Andy P
Mine has a factory-fitted one, and it dows make the read of the car look slightly less like the north face of the Eiger than without it. It also makes the boot easier to close (lower it to within a couple of inches of the lip and let go - the extra weight makes sure it closes properly)

Oh, it's an Accord Type-S.

I put a spoiler on my Sierra. The hatchback would not stay up,because of the weight, but it made a brilliant table when picknicking.
