Which connector under each of the front seats needs cleaning to keep the airbag light off - I don't wish to clean those which are not involved. Pushing them together firmly cures the problem for a while but I would like to reseat them several times to clean the contacts.

its the orange 2 pin plug thats for the seat belt pretensioner circuit for the airbag
best fix is to cut the plug out of the systemn and solder the wires and heat shrink the one at a time of course and with the ignition off this the way i done them when i was with peugeot[it is only a 306 with a different jacket on}
hope this helps
remember to clear down the ecu codes if possible

Thank you for the info - the 2 pin plug is at least the easiest to deal with and it explains why the garage pulled it off its mounting and not the larger one!

Ahhhh ! A subject very dear to my heart !
We had a Xsara 1.4 for 3 years from almost new, and the airbag light coming on intermittantly was a sporadic fault we had almost all of that time. First, (under warranty) they had a go at reseating or remaking the connectors under the seat. This fixed it for a few months, then they hardwired one of the connectors. This fixed it for another few months. Then eventually, I got fed up of taking it to the garage, and soldered every individual wire under both seats. This fixed it forever I think, as 6 months later on we sold the car and the problem never came back.
