Golf Mk4 Clock & Odometer Not Working - fFrank
I have a GOLF MK4 and the 2 lcd's (clock, odometer) are not working after a water leak that i had from the sunroof.

I don't think that the water drops reached the dashboard, i am sure about that.

But the carpet was wet near the brakes. The water moved across the drivers column and down.

Do you have any idea what to check ?

Thanks
Frank

I suspect that the Cluster (Dash Panel Insert in VW speak) has lost power to that area.

Check fuses first. Then I would remove the cluster for inspection. This is a very simple operation - two small screws retain the Cluster, then the two plugs need to be removed from the rear of the cluster. These wiring plugs can be difficult to get at, as they dont give you much extra wire to play with.

It may be that disturbing these connections will bring back the display.

If you cant see anything wrong, refit the cluster, and hope that drying out fixes it! (Make sure the air con is on, if fitted).

Worst case, if a new cluster is needed, its about £300 to £350 and VW have to fit it as security code access is required.
