The new system must have been 'designed'by a non driver, or someone whose car is maintained and serviced by someone else.
The test now takes much longer, a minor failure requires a complete new test, which means waiting for another appointment( 2 weeks!)and of course another fee. Garages are reporting a shambles, and as a result we will now see a huge increase in cars without MOT,Tax and insurance.

Good old Brussels, they've done it again ! How do the "Eurocrats" get their jobs? Requirement 1 - no common sense ?

Is it anything to do with Brussels (or the other bogeymen in Strasbourg)?
As I understood it's being developed for the transport dept under a PFI contract led by Siemens. Aim is to re engineer the entire process, on which basis all knowledge of the current system is regarded as irrelevant.

Well, the MoT revamp and diesel emissions test stem from Brussels, as the MoT in all countries is supposed to be the same - or will be, if they get their way.

Another Government inspired IT project.
Have any been delivered on time and working?
This could be the first I suppose.
I have been told that a single bay MoT establishment will only be able to do 8 tests per day. About 50% of what they currently do with retests etc. Will this mean that the whole UK capacity for doing MoT tests will be halved????? Think of the knock on effects, cars without Mot cannot be retaxed, hence loss to the chancellor as the cars are SORNED and taken off the road. Or more likely stay untaxed on the road and attract automatic £40/80 penalty payments?
Could get interesting, I think I will re MoT my fleet before the new rules come into play locally.

Nothing to do with Brussels our own DOT c??? up.When they changed the registration methods they ignored other countries models that worked well in combating fraud and failure to comply and went with a hotch potch system you see now

This does not suprise me - As I work for the large German company that has implemented the project (i'm not involved with that certain business group). But I have heard through the grapevine that they have had lots of problems. Partly due to their own fault in not getting the right people for the job.
