Can anything about done (legally) about someone who's using several vehicles all of which are untaxed but parked off road at the same address? Given the length of time this has been going on I think it's unlikely that the cars are registered at that address so what, if anything can be done?
Many thanks.

Private of Housing Association property V?
Former not much you can do unless a blot on the landscape then a word with the LA and Enviromental Health people. May be running a scrap metal business on parts?
Later may be in breach of tenancy agreement?
You could of course send VRM's to DVLA in an EMail to check if they have been Sorned annually.

Ta DVD - if they've been 'Sorned' but are being driven around locally can anything be done (apart from just hoping they'll be spotted on the road by the authorities that is)?
BTW - If they haven't been 'Sorned' already surely the DVLA will have issued fines etc. to the registered addresses and got absolutely nowhere.
TIA

A (anonymous if desired, and prefix number with 141) phone call to the police?

They have probably got better things to do with their time.

DVLA website has a "grass up your neighbours" section you can probably use.

Life is complex; it has real and imaginary parts.

They have, but it's a waste of time (see tinyurl.com/blnvx ) ! I'm still waiting for them to take care of a local shed which is parked nearby. I had a look at the front tyre and it won't be long before it's a racing slick. Oh, and it's still taxed until 05/05...

Don't know if you are within the London area?

Other councils now have similar schemes.

The problem is the untaxed cars aren't parked on the highway for any length of time.
|
In the links it doesn't specify that removing untaxed/abandoned vehicles depends whether or not they are on the road.

Are they causing you any grief volvoman? I know that using the cars on the road is illegal, but something within recoils at "dobbing " them in to the police just for the sake of it.
|
Basically its theft. The more people who pay tax and RFL etc, less the less the average per person pays. People who do not pay taxes or RFL, mean that those of us who do pay, pay more.
That's why I would shop them and presumably why volvoman is as well.

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

|
My problem with the car local to me is that a) it's not taxed, therefore it's highly likely to be uninsured. It's also clearly unroadworthy due to the Duncan Goodhew-like front tyre, so no worries with it having troubled an MOT station lately.
I don't want to see any of the local population killed or injured because of this irresponsible person.
I have to pay to tax and insure my car. What makes this person any different? It's not as if they haven't had enough time to save up £94 since the end of May is it.

Volvoman
One idea is to get a photo of one being driven on the road, then send it to your local inspector.
I take it you carry one of those camera phones with you all the time?

I think VM this is the page you need on DVLA,my mate used it because of untaxed noisy cars a couple of doors away from him.they were caught within a week

They are not going to know who reported them

Lawman - were the person in question a nice little old lady or were it a temporary situation due to someone falling on hard times I'd have far more sympathy. However this person (who falls into neither of the above categories) has been quite happily running around in several untaxed cars for months and so I can't help wondering if they're insured, MOT'd and/or properly registered either. Somehow I doubt it. So, aside from the question of evading the tax due, there's also the question of safety and what happens to any innocent victims if he's involved in an accident.
|
I went out on shift with Traffic Police a couple of times. In between shouts, we'd go and park up near a "known offender" (mostly banned for DD but thought to still be driving) just in case they were seen driving. Didn't catch any though...but they may do something similar here.

Right, an update. Passed on the gist of the advice given herein to my mate and heard back from him a few days ago. Apparently he contacted the DVLA with all the regn. details and they confirmed none of the cars were taxed. Apparently the DVLA will send fines to the registered keeper but they were unable to confirm whether that address was the same as that where the vehicles are being used and the impression given was that they weren't interested in that location at all!
All of this would seem to indicate that if you want to avoid taxing your car all you need to do is register it at another address. Unless you're unlucky enough to be caught driving the vehicle the DVLA aren't going to bother with you!
Can this be true???

DVLA will give out ownership details to one organisation that exists solely pass on continental parking fines and then take their cut on top of the fine! Report any crime at www.shopthem.com.
