I've seen a 2002 '51' plate Audi A4 Avant 2.0 FSi auto for sale at around the £6k mark - but it's done 120k miles.
I'm not terribly afraid of high milers as a rule, but I don't know squat about these cars.
It has a full Audi history.
Anybody care to venture an opinion?
I believe these cars are quite economical as petrol cars go.
My annual mileage is low, usually 6-7k p.a.

To be honest J/E, not familiar with these cars, but doesn't sound a bad deal. I *think* FSi models should be run on superunleaded, and as yet is still relatively new technology.
Is it this model in the link?

I'm sure someone will be along who can advise you.

Yes it was that one in the link, it's also on ebay - and has been unsold there on two previous occasions that I know of.
I think it is the multitronic, but I'm not sure.
I'm not at all knowlegeable on Audis, I'm afraid *much* older Land Rovers are about where I've got to!

Confess to knowing nothing about the A4 FSI auto but is it a true auto or the Audi multitronic (CVT)? Do these multitronics last 120k? No experience/knowledge but are CVT reliable at 120k if it is one? Sounded cheap to me for an Audi.
Then again, second hand someone would have to be the first to try.

With A4s, my experience after 100k is you will be involved in frequent - and very expensive - maintenance . Items like drive shafts, brake disks, suspension balljoints and bushes and catalysts start coming to the end of their life. If you do a low mileage that may disguise the effects of some and magnify others (the brakes for example ) and if you do short journeys...
Imo it's unsold because potential buyers are scared by that and the thought of spending £1-£2k within a year.
If multitronic, I would run a mile. The risk of needing a replacement box is probably more than the car is worth...

Id also research into the FSI engine, as these engines werent implemented until much later in the A4 range, i think 2003 03 plate were the first to get them. So you could be buying a standard 2.0 litre rather than the very economical 2.0 FSI.

Thanks all, I think I'll give this one a swerve.
Off to the auction this morning to see whats there!
