There isn't an official limit, although last time it was called into question where I worked I think Ford's official line was 500 miles on a brand new vehicle.

I've gone to collect a brand new Accord before from the other end of the country, it was delivered to the customer with about 300 miles on the clock. His own fault though, he refused to wait until a trailer was available to do it so he got a car that had been ragged up a motorway at, I'm guessing, probably over 100 mph judging by how quickly the guy driving it got back home.

Realistically though I would expect a new Mazda to likely have about 10 - 20 miles on the clock. Are you concerned about your's?

I remember once we allowed a woman to test drive a brand new unregistered Fiesta, when she agreed to buy it she said she no longer wanted that one as it wasn't brand new and there was mud on the tyres! She had to have it explained that they don't actually arrive from the factory polished and with black tyres :-)

Some cars, particularly those with electronic instruments (most of them!) can have the odometers reset by the dealer. I used to pick up Mercs at Stuttgart and they had under 10 miles on them, just a test drive round a track at the factory. On Alfas it was possible to reset the odometer once, back to zero, so long as you did it before it had exceeded 200 miles. Some deal with turning the ignition on and off twice while holidng the reset pressed, or something like that.
