Can you assist me in finding a new right hand dash display unit (the one which indicates Satnav and computer information)?
The display on my Picasso has poor brightness and when the car has been running for 15 minutes, dims to an unreadable level. My local Citroen dealer quoted £1000 plus to change the dash after previously telling me that the light bulbs need changing. I had already changed the bulbs myself a year ago to no avail.
Thanks

Haven't a clue what you mean - not one of these is it? tinyurl.com/7ntrg

I think I'd either see a good auto electrician or look for one in a scrap yard - or both!
Was the £1000 replacement cost for the part or part/fitting? If it's a dash-out job a lot of that could be labour. With a good workshop manual, lots of patience and a digital camera, you could probably remove the dash yourself and fit a replacement new/ secondhand unit. The digicam is great for recording all stages of dismantling - to ease reassembly.
Could it not be something as simple as a faulty variable resistor - ie the gizmo that allows you to dim the display at night?

hi graeme,
thanks for the info.
I've had the dash out a couple of times to replace the bulbs and had no problems. the plug in cables simplify the job.
The dimmer works Ok for both left and right displays but after the usual 15 mins running the rh display disappears.
I'm trying to get a used display somewhere.
Thanks

Your just talking about the instrument 'pod' right? It is pretty easy to remove and replace these. I think you need to circulate some details of what you want to breakers.
