hi all after a bit of trouble with clutch (slipping) i have decided to change it. went to my local parts dealer and they quoted me 35.50 for a clutch kit (by the way it is a 1.7 td isuzu unit and car is on an L plate) which was a couple of days ago. phoned them back to confirm price and they quoted me 64 quid! i dont mind paying this but i asked why did they tell me 35.50 in the first place and they replied that it was because it was an isuzu unit not GM. is there a difference? do the flywheels differ? if not can i use a clutch for a GM engine on my car?

No in a word. You have to use the correct part!

thanks for replying v8man just a thought. i thought that from the gearbox to the flywheel they were the same thats all

If you look at the bellhousing and it has a cover, held by six bolts IIRC,at the bottom it is GM and you can change the clutch without removing the gearbox.Otherwise it will be specific to thet engine and will have to be tackled conventionally.
