VW Passat Electrical problem

VW Passat Electrical problem - New2TDI
Hi All,

Need some more advice. The other driving down the motorway the dashboad lights temporarily went out. After fiddling with the main light switch the dash lights came back to life. This happended a couple of times on the journey. I suspect that there is a loose connection somewhere but don't really know where to start looking. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I now have no dash lights at all and it makes driving at night difficult as I can't see how fast I am going.

If it's a B4 then it is usually the switch. I took mine apart and cleaned it which seemed to fix things.

Sorry shuld have said that the car is a 2001 1.9TDI (PD).

I will have a look at the headlight switch. How is this removed?

Seem to remember you have to remove the section of "under dashboard trim" (if that makes sense) that it is mounted in. IIRC it's only a couple of screws and an easy job. When you've removed it, taking the switch out is fairly obvious.
