Tipo heater fan blows fuse on top speed - local yokel
93 Tipo 1.4S only blows the fuse when the fan is turned to the top speed. Fine at positions 1 and 2. Fuse is rated at 20A, but by the looks of things the last owner blew a 30A fuse. The top setting is normally direct, ie without any resistor.

Anyone tried swapping a fan on a Tipo - it looks as though it might come out without take too much else apart, but being Italian, that's almost certainly optimistic.

If I remember rightly the same thing happened on my mum's 93 1.4S Tipo (am hoping it isnt the exact same car, as that would just be really weird). Anyway, the fuse blew and the fan broke when we were going on holiday one year. We got towed by the breakdown service and then ordered the part from the nearest Fiat garage. My dad was able to change it over himself without much difficulty and he isn't at all technically minded and hasn't much of a clue of what is under the bonnet so I'm thinking it can't be too difficult to do yourself.

Hope thats of some help.

I was talking about the cabin heater fan, not the radiator/cooling fan, but thanks!

As it happens it's a very easy job, I've discovered. There's one retaining clip/screw, and then the fan unit twists and comes out. I then scrubbed the commutator with an old toothbrush and some meths, having cleaned the grooves on it with a very small flat blade screwdriver. Quick soak in WD40, reassemble and install, and I've more wind than the House of Commons.

Quick soak in WD40, reassemble and install,

Soaking it in wd-40 will attract loads gunge and belly button fluff and will stick to everything soaked in it, possibly returning your problem back to square one eventually.
